Abiasaph
Fausset's Bible Dictionary [1]
See also Ebiasaph.
("whose father God took away," namely, Korah: Numbers
16. Or else, "the father of gathering, the gatherer".) Head of a family of Korhites (a house of the Kohathites): Exodus 6:24; 1 Chronicles 6:37. Possibly Abiasaph may be a distinct person from Ebiasaph; in genealogies generations are often passed over between two persons of the same name. The descendants of Abiasaph, of whom Shallum was chief, were "keepers of the gates of the tabernacle" ( 1 Chronicles 9:19; 1 Chronicles 9:31), and "had the set office over the things made in the pans," in David's time. Compare Nehemiah 12:25.
Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible [2]
ABIASAPH (= ‘father has gathered’), Exodus 6:24 = EBIASAPH (= ‘father has increased’), 1 Chronicles 6:23; 1Ch 6:37; 1 Chronicles 9:18 . The name of a division of the Korahite Levites, mentioned only in the genealogies of P [Note: Priestly Narrative.] and the Chronicler. According to 1 Chronicles 9:19; 1 Chronicles 26:1 (in the latter passage read Ebiasaph for Asaph), a section of the division acted as doorkeepers.
Smith's Bible Dictionary [3]
Abi'asaph. (Father Of Gathering, that is, Gathered). Exodus 6:24 Otherwise written Ebiasaph. 1 Chronicles 6:23; 1 Chronicles 6:37; 1 Chronicles 9:19. One of the descendants of Korah, and head of the Korhites. Among the remarkable descendants of Abiasaph were Samuel, the prophet, 1 Samuel 1:11, and Heman, the singer.
Morrish Bible Dictionary [4]
Levite, one of the sons of Korah, and the head of one of the families of the Korhites. Exodus 6:24 . In 1 Chronicles 6:37; 1 Chronicles 9:19 there is EBIASAPHa Son of Korah, who is probably the same. The Ebiasaph of 1 Chronicles 6:23 is apparently a great grandson of Korah.

a - bı̄´a - saf , ab - i - ā´saf ( אביאסף , 'ăbhı̄'āṣāph , "my father has gathered"): A descendant of Kohath the son of Levi ( Exodus 6:24; 1 Chronicles 6:23 , 1 Chronicles 6:37 (8, 22); 1 Chronicles 9:19 ). In Chronicles the name is אביסף , 'ebh - yāṣāph , which seems to be a mere variant spelling. The Samaritan version has the same form in Exodus. The list in Exodus terminates with Abiasaph, who is to be regarded as the contemporary of Phinehas, the grandson of Aaron. The two lists in 1 Ch 6 lead up to the prophet Samuel and the singing companies which David is said to have organized. The list in 1 Ch 9 leads up to the Korahite porters of the time of Nehemiah. Apparently all the lists intentionally omit names, just names enough being given in each to indicate the line.
