Zabdiel Bradford
Zabdiel Bradford [1]
a Baptist minister, was born in Marshfield, Massachusetts, July 13, 1809. He was descended on his father's side from governor William Bradford, and on his mother's from captain Miles Standish. Mr. Bradford was a graduate of Waterville College, Maine, in 1834, and took the entire course of the Newton Theological Institution, with the exception of the last term in the senior year. His ordination took place at North Yarmouth, Maine, May 24, 1837, and his pastorate of seven years with the Baptist Church in that place was a very successful one. In consequence of the severity of the climate in Maine he was obliged to resign, and accepted a call to the Pine street Baptist Church in Providence, R.I., over which he was, installed. in November 1844, and remained until his death, May 16, 1849.
