JEREMOTH. 1. 2. Two Benjamites (  1 Chronicles 7:8;   1 Chronicles 8:14 ). 3, 4. Two Levites (  1 Chronicles 23:23;   1 Chronicles 25:22 ); the latter called in 24:30 Jerimoth. 5. A Naphtalite (  1 Chronicles 27:19 ). 6 , 7 , 8. Three of those who had married foreign wives (  Ezra 10:26-28 ). In the last instance Qerç has ‘and Ramoth’ (so AV [Note: Authorized Version.] ). For Nos. 6 and 8 . 1 Es. (9:27, 30) has Hieremoth  ; for No. 7 it has (v.28) Jerimoth .

Jer'emoth. (Heights).

1. A Benjamite chief, a son of the house of Beriah of Elpaal.  1 Chronicles 8:14. Compare  1 Chronicles 8:12-18. (B.C. about 588).

2. A Merarite Levite, son of Mushi.  1 Chronicles 23:23.

3. Son of Heman; head of the thirteenth course of musicians, in the divine service.  1 Chronicles 25:22. (B.C. 1014).

4. One of the sons of Elam, and,

5. One of the sons of Zattu, who had taken strange wives.  Ezra 10:26-27. (B.C. 459). The name which appears in the same list as "and Ramoth ,"  Ezra 10:29.

1. (Sept. Ι᾿Αριμώθ )) The last named of the three sons of Mushi, grandson of Levi ( 1 Chronicles 23:23); called JERIMOTH in  1 Chronicles 24:30. B.C. post 1856.

2. (Sept. Ι᾿Εριμώθ v.r. Ι᾿Εριμούθ , Vulg. Jerimoth , A.V. "Jerimoth.") One of the "sons" of Becher, son of Benjamin ( 1 Chronicles 7:8). B.C. apparently 1017.

3. (Sept. Ι᾿Εριμώθ )) A Levite, chief of the fifteenth division of Temple musicians as arranged by David ( 1 Chronicles 25:22); probably the same called JERIMOTH in  1 Chronicles 25:4. B.C. 1014.

4. (Sept. Ι᾿Αριμώθ v.r. Ἀριμώθ .) One of the "sons" of Beriah, a Benjamite ( 1 Chronicles 8:14). B.C. appar. cir. 588. Probably the same with Jeroham in  1 Chronicles 8:27.

5. (Sept. Ι᾿Εριμώθ v.r. Ι᾿Αριμώθ ) An Israelite, one of the "sons" (? inhabitants) of Elam, who divorced his Gentile wife after the exile ( Ezra 10:26). B.C. 459.

6. ( Ι᾿Αρμώθ v.r. Ἀρμώθ , , a Vulg. Jerimuth. ) Another Israelite, one of the "sons" (? inhabitants) of Zattu, who likewise divorced his Gentile wife after the captivity ( Ezra 10:27). B.C. 459.

(1) In  1 Chronicles 7:8 (the King James Version "Jerimoth"), and

(2) In  1 Chronicles 8:14 , Benjamites. Compare Jeroham , (2).

(3) In  1 Chronicles 23:23 , and (4) in  1 Chronicles 25:22 = "Jerimoth,"   1 Chronicles 24:30; heads of Levitical houses.

(5) A N aphtalite, one of David's tribal princes ( 1 Chronicles 27:19 ); the King James Version "Jerimoth."

(6) (7) (8) Men who had married foreign wives. In  Ezra 10:26 (="Hieremoth," 1 Esdras 9:27);   Ezra 10:27 (="Jarimoth," 1 Esdras 9:28);   Ezra 10:29 (="Hieremoth," 1 Esdras 9:30); the Ḳerē of the last is ירמות , werāmōth , "and Ramoth"; so the Revised Version margin, the King James Version.
