Saul's second son by Ahinoam ( 1 Samuel 14:49-50). The same as Abinadab, since his name does not appear in 1 Chronicles 8:33; 1 Chronicles 9:39, nor in the battle of Gilboa ( 1 Samuel 31:2), where Abinadab takes his place.

(Heb. Yishvi', יַשְׁוַי , Uniform), the name of two men.
1. (Sept. in Genesis 46:17, Ι᾿Εύλ ; Vulg. Jessui, Auth. Vers. "Isui;" in Numbers 26:44 , Ι᾿Εσού , Jessui, "Jesui;" in 1 Chronicles 7:30, Ι᾿Ησουϊ v , Jessui, "shuai"). The third named of the sons of Asher, and founder of a family that bore his name ("Jesuites," Numbers 26:44). B.C. 1856.
2. (Septuag. Ι᾿Εσσουί , Josephus Ι᾿Εσούς , Ant. 6. 6, 6; Vulg. Jessui, Auth.Vers. "Ishui"). The second named of the three oldest sons of king Saul ( 1 Samuel 14:49); probably the same with ABINADAB ( 1 Samuel 31:2; comp. 1 Chronicles 8:33). (See Ish-Boshetit).
