Ish-Sechel

Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible [1]

Ish-Sechel . In   Ezra 8:18 it is said: ‘And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli,’ where RV [Note: Revised Version.] gives for ‘man of understanding’ the marginal proper name ‘Ish-sechel.’ That a proper name is required is certain, but whether Ish-sechel is that name is not so certain. Isaachar has been suggested.

ish´sē̇ - kel ( אישׁ שׂכל , 'ı̄sh sekhel , "man of discretion"): Ezra, at one time in need of ministers for the house of God, sent "unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia." "And according to the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of discretion (m "Ish-sechel"), of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel" (  Ezra 8:18 ). This is the only reference to Ish-sechel.
