There are several of this name in Scripture, (See  2 Samuel 23:36;  1 Chronicles 6:46;  Ezra 2:10) Some render the word, from Ban, son. Hence, Rachel named her son, Benoni, in her dying moments, while Jacob called him Benjamin. The mother's name made him Ben, the son, oni, of my sorrow. The father's Ben, the son, jamin, the right hand, or the hand of strength.

    5. A Levite, whose son Rehum repaired a portion of the (branch) wall of Jerusalem skirting the brow of Mount Zion on the east ( Nehemiah 3:17). He had another son named Uzzi, who was appointed overseer of the Levites at Jerusalem; his own father's name was Hashabiah ( Nehemiah 11:22). B.C. 446-410. (See Chenani).
