In Jesus' genealogy ( Matthew 1:14 ) Achim or Jachin (i.e. "he will establish"), contracted from Jehoiachin. The name may express the parents' faith that God would in His own time establish Messiah's throne, as Isaiah 9:7 foretold.

ACHIM ( Ἀχείμ ).—An ancestor of Joseph, according to the genealogy of our Lord in St. Matthew’s Gospel ( Matthew 1:14 ). The name may be a shortened form of Jehoiachim , or it may be for Ahiam (cf. 1 Chronicles 11:35 ) or Jachin (cf. Genesis 46:10 ).
