occurs only in 1 Kings 7:32-33, as a translation of יָד , yad, hand, in the phrase יְדוֹת הָאוֹפִנִּים, yedoth' ha-ophannim', hands of the wheels, i.e. their axle-trees, as in the Auth. Vers.; Sept. χεῖρες ἐν τοῖς τροχοῖς, Vulg. axes. (See Chariot).
