<p> (usually יוֹעֵוֹ, ''Yoets''' , σύμβουλος ), an adviser upon any matter (&nbsp;Proverbs 11:14; &nbsp;Proverbs 15:22; &nbsp;2 Chronicles 25:16; &nbsp;Ezra 4:5, etc.; &nbsp;Romans 11:34), especially the king's state counselor (&nbsp;2 Samuel 15:12; &nbsp;Ezra 7:28; &nbsp;1 Chronicles 27:33, etc.); hence one of the chief men of a government (&nbsp;Job 3:14; &nbsp;Job 12:17; &nbsp;Isaiah 1:26; &nbsp;Isaiah 3:3, ebc.), and once of the [[Messiah]] (&nbsp;Isaiah 9:5; Sept. σύμβουλος, Vulg. ''Consiliarius'' ). The [[Chaldee]] equivalent term is יָעֵט (''Yaet''' , &nbsp;Ezra 7:14-15). Other Chaldee terms thus rendered are הִדָּבְרַין (''Haddaberin''' ), ministers of state or viziers (&nbsp;Daniel 3:24; &nbsp;Daniel 3:27; &nbsp;Daniel 4:36; &nbsp;Daniel 6:7), and דְּתָבָר (''Dethabar''' , one skilled in law), a judge (&nbsp;Daniel 3:2-3). In the [[Apocrypha]] , σύμβουλος, in the ordinary sense of adviser, is thus rendered (Wisdom of [[Solomon]] 8:9; &nbsp;Sirach 6:6; &nbsp;Sirach 37:7-8; &nbsp;Sirach 42:21); also συμβουλευτής (&nbsp;1 [[Esdras]] 8:11). In &nbsp;Mark 15:43; &nbsp;Luke 23:50, the Greek term βουλευτής, which is thus translated, probably designates a member of the [[Jewish]] [[Sanhedrim]] (q.v.) (See [[Council]]). </p>
