thar´a ( Θαρρά , Tharrá ): One of the two eunuchs, "keepers of the court," who with his companion Gabatha (Bigthan) formed a conspiracy against King Artaxerxes which was detected by Mordecai (Additions to Esther 12:1 = "Teresh" of Esther 2:21; Esther 6:2 ). Tharra and his companion were hanged. Josephus ( BJ , II, vi, 4) calls him "Theodestes."
