(1): ( v. t.) To bind as with a bandage; to bind or warp tightly with clothes; to swathe; - used esp. of infants; as, to swaddle a baby.

(2): ( n.) Anything used to swaddle with, as a cloth or band; a swaddling band.

(3): ( v. t.) To beat; to cudgel.

( חָתִל , To Bandage, Σπαργανόω  ; but טָפִח , in Lamentations 2:23, means to Bear, Upon The Palm), to swathe an infant with cloths in order to keep its tender limbs from injury, a practice common in the East ( Ezekiel 16:4;  Luke 2:7). (See Birth).
