Stephen Jordan Rigand [1]
the eldest son of John Francis Rigand, was educated at, and afterwards fellow and tutor of, Exeter College, Oxford. He became second master of Westminster School, and headmaster of Ipswich School, Suffolk; mathematical examiner in 1845, and one of the select preachers of Oxford University in 1856. He was appointed bishop of Antigua in 1857, and died there, of yellow fever, May 16, 1859. He published Sermons on the Lord's Prayer (Ipswich, 1852, 8vo), and edited vol. 1, and published vols. 1 and 2, of the Correspondence of Scientific Men. See Allibone, Dict. of Brit. and Amer.
