Shelah . 1 . The youngest son of Judah by Shua ( Genesis 38:5; Genesis 38:11; Genesis 38:14; Genesis 38:26; Genesis 46:12 , Numbers 26:20 (16), 1 Chronicles 2:3; 1 Chronicles 4:21 ). He gave his name to the family of the Shelanites ( Numbers 26:20 (16)). Probably ‘the Shelanite’ should be read also for ‘the Shilonite ’ of Nehemiah 11:5 and 1 Chronicles 9:5 . 1 Chronicles 9:2 . The son of Arpachshad ( Genesis 10:24 bis Genesis 11:13-15 , 1 Chronicles 1:18; 1 Chronicles 1:24 , Luke 3:35 ). 3 . Nehemiah 3:15 . See Siloam.

shē´la ( שׁלה , shēlāh ; Σάλα , Sála ):
(1) The youngest son of Judah and the daughter of Shua the Canaanite ( Genesis 38:5 , Genesis 38:11 , Genesis 38:14 , Genesis 38:26; Genesis 46:12; Numbers 26:20 (16); 1 Chronicles 2:3; 1 Chronicles 4:21 ). He gave his name to the family of the Shelanites ( Numbers 26:20 (16)). Probably "the Shelanite" should be substituted for "the Shilonite" of Nehemiah 11:5; 1 Chronicles 9:5 .
(2) ( שׁלח , shelāḥ ): The son or (Septuagint) grandson of Arpachshad and father of Eber ( Genesis 10:24; Genesis 11:13 (12), 14, 15; 1 Chronicles 1:18 , 1 Chronicles 1:24; Luke 3:35 ).
(3) Nehemiah 3:15 = "Shiloah" of Isaiah 8:6 . See Siloam .

(Heb. Shelah', שֵׁלָה , A Petition, as in 1 Samuel 1:17; or rather perhaps Peace, i.q. Shiloh Sept. Σηλώμ or Σηλώ Ν . r. Σηλώ ), the youngest son of Judah by the daughter of Shuah the Canaanite ( Genesis 38:5; Genesis 38:11; Genesis 38:14; Genesis 38:26; Genesis 41:12; 1 Chronicles 2:2). B.C. ante 1873 . His descendants, some of whom are numerated in 1 Chronicles 4:21-23 are called ( Numbers 26:20) Shelanites q.v.). For Shelach (A.V. "Shelah," 1 Chronicles 1:18), the son of Arphaxad, (See Sela).
