(Heb. Reii', רְעוּ ,Fri-End; Sept. ῾Ραγαῦ v. r. ῾Ραγαύ ,  1 Chronicles 1:25), the son of Peleg and father of Serug in the Abrahamic ancestry ( Genesis 11:18;  Genesis 11:21;  1 Chronicles 1:25). B.C. cir. 1950. He is called Ragau in  Luke 3:35. He lived 239 years. "Bunsen ( Bibelwerk ) says Reu is Roha, the Arabic name for Edessa, an assertion which, borrowed from Knobel, is utterly destitute of foundation, as will be seen at once on comparing the Hebrew andArabic words. A closer resemblance might be found between Reu and Rhagoe, a large town of Media, especially if the Greek equivalents of the two names be taken"
