Pierre De Cambout De Coislin [1]

a French prelate, was born at Paris in 1636. He became bishop of Orleans, first almoner of tie king, then grand almoner of France, and cardinal. He was held in high veneration for his benevolence, and the wise manner in which he accomplished the duties of his office, and for the aid which he rendered the Calvinists in allaying the persecution directed against them by the government after the revocation of the edict of Nantes.
