Pal-ti-el. (Whom God Delivers). The son of Azzan, and prince of the tribe of Issachar. Numbers 34:26. He was one of the twelve, appointed to divide the land of Canaan, among the tribes west of Jordan. (B.C. 1450).

(Heb. Paltiel', פִּלְטַיאֵל , deliverance of God; Sept. Φαλτιήλ ), son of Azzan, and chief man of the tribe of Issachar, one of those appointed to divide the Promised Land among the tribes on their entrance into it ( Numbers 34:26). B.C. 1618. (See Phaltiel), which in the Hebrew is the same form.
