(Heb. O'tsem, אֹצֶם , Strength; Selt. Ἀσόμ v.r. Ἀσάμ , and Ἀσάν ; Vulg. Assom and Asom), the name of two men of the tribe of Judah.
1. The fourth of the sons of Jerahmeel by his first wife ( 1 Chronicles 2:25). B.C. cir. 1656.
2. The sixth son of Jesse, and brother of David ( 1 Chronicles 2:15). B.C. cir. 1100.

ō´zem ( אצם , 'ōcem , meaning unknown):
(1) The 6th son of David ( 1 Chronicles 2:15 ). Septuagint (Ἄσομ , Āsom ) and Vulgate (Jerome's Latin Bible, 390-405 A.D.) suggest that the name should be pointed אצם , 'ācōm .
(2) A "son" of Jerahmeel ( 1 Chronicles 2:25 ).
