( Μονογενής , From. Μόνος , Only, and Γίνομαι , To Be Born ) , an epithet of Jesus Christ, expressive of his peculiar relation to the Godhead ( John 1:14, etc.). The term properly means an only child ( Luke 7:12). (See Son Of God).
