Me-Jarkon ( Joshua 19:46 ). The Heb. text seems to be in disorder. The LXX [Note: Septuagint.] reading, ‘and from the sea, Jarkon and the boundary near Joppa,’ sufficiently attests the name Jarkon , a place in the territory of Dan; but the site is not yet recovered.

(Hebrews Mey-Hay-yarkon' מֵי הִיִּרְקוֹן , Waters Of Yellowness , or Clear Water ; Sept. Θάλασα ῾Ιαρακών , Vulg. Mejarcon ), a town in the tribe of Dan, mentioned between Gath-rimmon and Rakkon ( Joshua 19:46); probably so called from a spring in its vicinity. Schwarz ( Palest . p. 141) regards the name as equivalent to River Of Disease (lit. Of Paleness ), and states that there is a " Wady Udshi which descends from the mountains of- Lod" (probably referring to the ravine in the south rear of Ludd), a nearly synonymous epithet, according to him, on the strength of which he is disposed to identify the locality. "It is difficult not to suspect that the name following that of Me-hajjarkon, har-Rakon (A. V. Rakkon), is a mere corrupt repetition thereof, as the two bear a very close similarity to each other, and occur nowhere else".

mē - jar´kon ( היּרקון מי , mē ha - yarḳōn ; θάλασσα Ἱεράκων , thálassa Hierákon ): The Hebrew may mean "yellow water." The phrase is literally, "the waters of Jarkon." Septuagint reads "and from the river, Jarkon and the boundary near Joppa." From this possibly we should infer a place called Jarkon in the lot of Dan; but no name resembling this has been found. The text ( Joshua 19:46 ) is corrupt.
