Luiz Alvarez [1]
a Portuguese Jesuit, was born at Sao Romao, in the bishopric of Coimbra, in 1618, and died at Lisbon in 1709. This ascetic writer is regarded as a classical composer, and is the author of a great number of works, among others, Amor Sagrado Offereceo P. Luiz Alvarez, da Companhia de Jesus (Evora, 1673): — Ceo de Graca Inferno Custoso (Coimbra, 1692): — Sermoes de Quaresma Offerecidas ao Illustrissimo Senhor D.
