Cerqueira (or Cerquerra), Lois

a Portuguese theologian of the Jesuit order, was born at Alvito in 1552. He was placed at the head of the missionaries whom Philip II sent to Japan. He was ordained before his departure, and for sixteen years presided over a house of his order at Nagasaki.
