John Philip Boehm [1]
a German Reformed minister, came to America from the Palatinate early in 1726. He had been a school-master in Germany, and was licensed by the Reformed (Dutch) ministers of New York city in 1729, by direction of the Classis of Amsterdam, Holland. Soon after his arrival in America, his ministry began at Whitpain, near Philadelphia. The erection of "Boehm's Church" occurred while he was there, and he served as its pastor until near the time of his death, May 1, 1749. "He was a man of strong will-power and decided character and doctrines." He held different doctrinal views from those of most of the members of his Church, and consequently had to resign some time before his death. See Harbaugh, Fathers of the Germ. Ref.
