Johann Tychsen Hemsen [1]

a German theologian, was born at Boldixum (Schleswig) Oct. 15,1 1.92. He studied at Copenhagen and G Ö ttingen, where he graduated in 1821. In 1823 he became extraordinary professor of theology in the University of G Ö ttingen, and died there May 14, 1830. He wrote Anaxagoras Klazonenemnsis, seu de vita ejus ephilosophiat (G Ö tt. 1821, 8vo):Die Authenticitaet d. Schriften d. Evangelisten Johannes (Schleswig, 1823; against Bretschneider's Probabilien): De Christologia Joannis Baptistce (Gott. 1824): Der Apostel Paulus, sein Leben, Wirken, und seine Schriften, posthumous (G Ö tt. 1830, 8vo), etc. He also wrote in the Gelehrte Anzeigeen of G Ö ttingen, and the Neue Krit. Bibliothek of Seebold; and edited Sta Ü dlin's Gesch. u. Litt É rateur d. Kirchengesch. (Hanover, 1827), and Berengarii Turonensis Liber de sacra Caena, adversus Lanzfrancum (Lpz. 1830).
