Johann Jacob Schutz [1]
a German hymnist, was born Sept. 7, 1640, at Frankfort-on-the-Main, where he also died, May 22, 1690. He was very intimate with Spener and Joachim Neander. The only hymn which he wrote was ascribed to Hugo Grotius.
