a bishop of the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland, was born in 1786 at New Ross, near Wexford, and was appointed bishop of Kildare in 1819. He was a copious writer on controversial topics, and in the Emancipation movement was one of the most valuable coadjutors of O'Connell. He died June 15, 1834. His Life, by Fitzpatrick, was republished in Boston in 1862.
