a French historian, was born September 23, 1803, at Fontenay, in Yendee, and was educated at Paris, at the seminary of St. Sulpice. When nineteen years of age he was appointed professor of philosophy, but, before entering upon his duties, he travelled in Italy and Germany. He died January 3, 1875.
