Intemperance

From BiblePortal Wikipedia

Webster's Dictionary [1]

(1): ( n.) Specifically: Habitual or excessive indulgence in alcoholic liquors.

(2): ( n.) The act of becoming, or state of being, intemperate; excess in any kind of action or indulgence; any immoderate indulgence of the appetites or passions.

Charles Buck Theological Dictionary [2]

Excess in eating or drinking. This is the general idea of it; but we may observe, that whatever indulgence undermines the health, impairs the senses, inflames the passions, clouds and sullies the reason, perverts the judgment, enslaves the will or in any way disorders or debilitates the faculties, may be ranked under this vice.

See article TEMPERANCE.
