Helkias 1. The high priest Hilkiah in Josiah’s reign. He is mentioned in   Esther 1:8  Esther 1:8 =   2 Chronicles 35:8 as a governor of the Temple, subscribing handsomely to Josiah’s great Passover; in   Esther 8:1  Esther 8:1 (cf.   Ezra 7:1 ) as the great-grandfather of Ezra; and in Bar 1:7 as father of Joakim, who was governor of the Temple in the reign of Zedekiah. 2. A distant ancestor of Baruch ( Bar 1:1 .) 3. The father of Susanna (Sus 2 29).

hel - kı̄´as ( חלקיּה , ḥilḳı̄yāh  ; Χελκίας , Chelkı́as  ; the King James Version Chelcias ):

(1) Father of Susanna (Susanna verses 2,29, 63). According to tradition he was brother of Jeremiah, and he is identified with the priest who found the Book of the Law in the time of Josiah ( 2 Kings 22:8 ).

(2) Ancestor of Baruch ( Baruch 1:1 ).

(3) Father of Joiakim the high priest ( Baruch 1:7 ). The name represents Hilkiah (which see).

( Χελκίας ), a still different Greek form ( 1 Esdras 1:8) of the name of the high-priest HILKIAH.
