Giovanni Antonio Badile [1]

an Italian historical and portrait painter, was born at Verona in 1480. He is said to have been the first Veronese painter who divested himself entirely of the Gothic manner. His principal pictures are, The Raising of Lazarus, in the Church of San Bernardino, and The Virgin and Infant in the Clouds, with several saints, in Sannazaro. He died in 1560. See Spooner, Biog.
