Gileddite

Gileddite [1]

(Hebrew prop. Giladi', גַּלְעָדַי ; Sept. Γαλααδί or Γαλααδίτης but often the same as Gilead simply), a descendant of one of the men, or an inhabitant of the region called GILEAD ( Numbers 26:29;  Judges 10:3;  Judges 11:1;  Judges 11:40;  Judges 12:7;  2 Samuel 17:27;  2 Samuel 19:31;  1 Kings 2:7;  2 Kings 15:25;  Ezra 2:61;  Nehemiah 7:63), or perhaps rather a branch of the tribe of Manasseh, descended from Gilead. There appears to have been an old standing feud between them and the Ephraimites, who taunted them with being deserters. See  Judges 12:4, which may be rendered, "And the men of Gilead smote Ephraim, because they said, Runagates of Eptiraim are ye (Gilead is between Ephraim and Manasseh)."
