"a storehouse, granary" (from apo, "away," and tithemi, "to put"), is translated "garner" in  Matthew 3:12;  Luke 3:17 . See Barn.

Garner . ‘Garner,’ which is now archaic if not obsolete, and ‘granary,’ the form now in use, both come from Lat. granaria , a storehouse for grain. RV [Note: Revised Version.] retains the subst. in all its occurrences in AV [Note: Authorized Version.] , and introduces the verb in   Isaiah 62:9 ‘They that have garnered (AV [Note: Authorized Version.] ‘gathered’) it shall eat it.’

International Standard Bible Encyclopedia

gar´nẽr ( מזוּ , māzū  ; ἀποθήκη , apothḗkē ): "Garners," derived from zāwāh , "to gather," occurs in   Psalm 144:13; 'ōcār is similarly translated in  Joel 1:17 . In the New Testament apothēkē is twice translated "garner" ( Matthew 3:12;  Luke 3:17 ). The same word is translated "barns" in  Matthew 6:26;  Matthew 13:30;  Luke 12:18 ,  Luke 12:24 .
