(1): ( n.) The projection of any part of a building in a rounded form.

(2): ( n.) A room in a public building, furnished with seats.

(3): ( n.) Any out-of-door seat in stone, large enough for several persons; esp., one of curved form.

a name sometimes given by St. Augustine to the ambo (q.v.). It is often used in ancient writers as synonymous with the apsis (q.v.).
