1: Πράσσω (Strong'S #4238 — Verb — prasso — pras'-so )

"to do, to practice," also has the meaning of "transacting," or "managing in the matter of payment, to exact, to get money from a person,"  Luke 3:13 (RV, "extort"). Cp. the English idiom "to do a person in." This verb is rendered "required," in   Luke 19:23 .

2: Συκοφαντέω (Strong'S #4811 — Verb — sukophanteo — soo-kof-an-teh'-o )

"to accuse falsely,"  Luke 3:14 , has its other meaning, "to exact wrongfully," in  Luke 19:8 . See Accuse.

EXACT', a. egzact'. L. exactus, from exigo, to drive ex and ago. Gr. to drive, urge or press.

1. Closely correct or regular nice accurate conformed to rule as a man exact in his dealings.

All this, exact to rule, were brought about.

2. Precise not different in the least. This is the exact sum or amount, or the exact time.

We have an exact model for imitation.

3. Methodical careful not negligent correct observing strict method, rule or order. This man is very exact in keeping his accounts. 4. Punctual. Every man should be exact in paying his debts when due he should be exact in attendance on appointments. 5. Strict. We should be exact in the performance of duties.

1. To force or compel to pay or yield to demand or require authoritatively to extort by means of authority or without pity or justice. It is an offense for an officer to exact illegal or unreasonable fees. It is customary for conquerors to exact tribute or contributions from conquered countries. 2. To demand or right. Princes exact obedience of their subjects. The laws of God exact obedience from all men. 3. To demand of necessity to enforce a yielding or compliance or to enjoin with pressing urgency.

(1): ( a.) To demand or require authoritatively or peremptorily, as a right; to enforce the payment of, or a yielding of; to compel to yield or to furnish; hence, to wrest, as a fee or reward when none is due; - followed by from or of before the one subjected to exaction; as, to exact tribute, fees, obedience, etc., from or of some one.

(2): ( a.) Precisely agreeing with a standard, a fact, or the truth; perfectly conforming; neither exceeding nor falling short in any respect; true; correct; precise; as, the clock keeps exact time; he paid the exact debt; an exact copy of a letter; exact accounts.

(3): ( a.) Habitually careful to agree with a standard, a rule, or a promise; accurate; methodical; punctual; as, a man exact in observing an appointment; in my doings I was exact.

eg - zakt ´:

(1) נגשׂ , nāghas ( Deuteronomy 15:2 ,  Deuteronomy 15:3;  2 Kings 23:35;  Isaiah 58:3 ), to secure by force or pressure interest or money for tribute, and perhaps, in  Isaiah 58:3 , labor or toil; but compare the Revised Version, margin "oppress all your laborers"; probably better with a slight change of text, "exact money lent on pledges" (reading for עבט בּידכם , ‛ăbhōṭ beyedhekhem , עצּביכם , ‛accebhēkhem ).

(2) נשׁא , nāshā' , or נשׁה , nāshāh ( Nehemiah 5:7 ,  Nehemiah 5:10 (the King James Version not the Revised Version (British and American)), 11;   Job 11:6 (but see below);   Psalm 89:22 ), to demand interest, to be a harsh and importunate creditor, a practice which Nehemiah asks the Jews to forego.  Job 11:6 better with the Revised Version, margin for "exact," "causeth to be forgotten."

(3) יוצא , yōcē' ( 2 Kings 15:20 (if text is correct)). Menahem secured the tribute which the king of Assyria demanded by levying a tax on the chief men of his kingdom.

(4) πράσσειν , prássein ( Luke 3:13 the King James Version (compare   Daniel 11:20 Septuagint); 1 Macc 10:35 the Revised Version (British and American)), to demand money or tribute or taxes of anyone.
