ancient inhabitants of the land of Canaan, beyond Jordan, who were defeated by Chedorlaomer and his allies,  Genesis 14:5 . Moses tells us that they were beaten at Shaveh-Kirjathaim, which was in the country of Sihon, conquered from the Moabites,  Joshua 13:19-21 . The Emims were a warlike people, of a gigantic stature, great and numerous, tall as the Anakims, and were accounted giants as well as they,  Deuteronomy 2:10-11 .

Emims (Ç'Mimz ), R. V. "the Emim " (Ç'Mim ), Terrors. A race of giants living east of the Dead Sea; related to the Anakim.  Genesis 14:5;  Deuteronomy 2:10-11.

E'mims. (Terrors). A tribe or family of gigantic stature which originally inhabited the region along the eastern side of the Dead Sea. They were related to the Anakim .
