Eli'el. (To Whom God Is Strength).

1. One of the heads of the tribe of Manasseh, on the east of Jordan.  1 Chronicles 5:24.

2. A forefather of Samue, l the prophet.  1 Chronicles 6:34.

3. A chief man, in the tribe of Benjamin.  1 Chronicles 8:20.

4. Also a Benjamite chief.  1 Chronicles 8:22.

5. One of the heroes of David's guard.  1 Chronicles 11:46.

6. Another of the same guard.  1 Chronicles 11:47.

7. One of the Gadite heroes, who came across Jordan to David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah, hiding from Saul.  1 Chronicles 12:11.

8. A Kohathite Levite, at the time of transportation of the ark, from the house of Obed-edom to Jerusalem.  1 Chronicles 15:9;  1 Chronicles 15:11. (B.C. 1043).

9. A Levite, in the time of Hezekiah; one of the overseers of the offerings, made in the Temple.  2 Chronicles 31:13. (B.C. 726).

    (Hebrew Eliel', ץלֵיץֵל , to whom God is Might), the name of some nine Israelites.

    1. (Sept. Ε᾿Λιήλ .) A valiant phylarch of the tribe of Manasseh east (1 Chronicles v. 24). B.C. post 1612.

    2. (Sept. Ε᾿Λιήλ .) Son of Toah and father of Jerohan, ancestors of Heman the singer and Levite ( 1 Chronicles 6:34); probably identical with the ELIAB of  1 Chronicles 6:34, and the ELIHU of  1 Samuel 1:1. B.C. cir 1250. (See Samuel).

    3. (Sept. Ε᾿Λιηλί .) One of the descendants of Shimhi, and head of a Benjamite family in Jerusalem ( 1 Chronicles 8:20). B.C. between 1612 and 588.

    4. (Sept. Ε᾿Λεήλ .) One of the descendants of Shashak, and likewise head of a Benjamite family at Jerusalem ( 1 Chronicles 8:22). B.C. eod.

    5. (Sept. Ε᾿Λιήλ v.r. Ε᾿Λιάβ .) The seventh of the Gadite heroes who joined David in his stronghold in the wilderness ( 1 Chronicles 12:11), possibly the same with No. 6 or 7. B.C. 1061.

    6. (Sept. Ε᾿Λιήλ v.r. Ι᾿Ελιήλ .) A Mahanite (q.v), and one of David's distinguished warriors ( 1 Chronicles 11:46). B.C. 1046.

    7. (Sept. Ἀλιήλ v.r. Δαλιήλ .) Another of David's distinguished warriors ( 1 Chronicles 11:47). B.C. eod.

    8. (Sept. Ε᾿Λιήλ .) Chief of the 80 Hebronite Levites assembled by David to assist in bringing the ark to Jerusalem ( 1 Chronicles 15:9;  1 Chronicles 15:11). B.C. 1043.

    9. (Sept. Ε᾿Λιήλ .) One of the Levites appointed by Hezekiah to have charge of the offerings for the Temple services ( 2 Chronicles 31:13). B.C. 726.
