Edward Brerewood [1]
an English antiquary, was born at Chester about 1565. He entered Brasenose College, Oxford, and in 1596 was appointed professor of astronomy in the college lately founded in London by sir Thomas Gresham. He died November 4, 1613. He wrote many works, among them two tracts upon the observation of the Lord's day, in which he maintained the Catholic opinion that there is no obligation to observe the Sunday as a Jewish Sabbath, as the Puritans taught.
