( עֵדוּת , Eduth', Precept, as it is often rendered; Sept. and Vulg. translate accordingly) stands (besides being translated elsewhere in its ordinary acceptation) as a part (in connection with "Shushan" either singular or plural) of the inscription of certain poetical compositions, indicating that the contents were of a Revealed or sacred character (title of  Psalms 60:1-12;  Psalms 80:1-19). ē´duth ( עדוּת , ‛ēdhūth , "testimony," a technical term for the Ten Commandments or for the Law): In  Psalm 60:1-12 title, "set to Shushan Eduth" (literally, "a lily (is) the testimony"); 80 title, "set to Shoshannim Eduth" (literally, "lilies (is) the testimony"). The Hebrew words appear to be intended to designate a melody by the first few words ordinarily associated with it. See Psalms .
