Diopetes [1]

( Διοπετής , Jove-fallen, "that fell down from Jupiter"), an epithet applied to the great image of Diana at Ephesus ( Acts 19:34). It is applied in the same way by heathen writers (e.g. Ἄγαλμα Διοπετές , Herodian. 1:11; compare Plutarch, Numa , 13; Eurip. Iph. 86-88; see Wetstein, Kuinol in loc.). (See Diana).
