Convenient . This Eng. word often has in AV [Note: Authorized Version.] its primary meaning of befitting , as   Romans 1:28 ‘God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient’ (RV [Note: Revised Version.] ‘fitting’). So in the trans. of Agrippa’s Van Artes (1684) ‘She sang and danc’d more exquisitely than was convenient for an honest woman.’

used in the A.V. only in its old Latin, sense of suitable or becoming, as a rendering of יָשָׁר , Yashar' (Jeremiah xl, 4, 5, "right," as often elsewhere), חֹק , Chok ( Proverbs 30:8, an allotted "portion," as sometimes elsewhere), Καθῆκον ( Romans 1:28, "fit," as in  Acts 22:22), Ἀνῆκον ( Ephesians 5:4;  Philemon 1:8, "fit," as in  Colossians 3:18); but Εὕκαιρος ( Mark 6:21), Εὐκαίρως ( Mark 14:11), Εὐκαιρέω ( 1 Corinthians 16:12), or simply Καιρός (Acts' 24:25), refer to opportuneness of time or season. Similarly in the Apocrypha ( Καθήκω ,  Sirach 10:23;  1 Maccabees 12:11;  2 Maccabees 4:19;  2 Maccabees 11:36), Ἐπιτήδειος , ( 1 Maccabees 4:46;  1 Maccabees 14:34) Ἐπίκαιρος ( 2 Maccabees 4:32;  2 Maccabees 14:22), simply Καιρός ( Sirach 39:17), or mere construction ( 2 Maccabees 10:18).
