Cavalier Michael Angelo Vanni [1]
an Italian painter of the 17th century, was the eldest son of the cavalier Francesco Vanni, by whom he was instructed in the art. His fame rests chiefly, however, upon his invention of a new process of staining marble in imitation of mosaic.
