Carey Allen [1]
a Presbyterian minister, was born in Cumberland County, Va., in 1767. He entered Hampden Sidney College at the age of seventeen. In 1789 he was received by the Hanover Presbytery as a candidate for the ministry; was licensed to preach in 1790; and spent the two succeeding years as a missionary in Virginia and Kentucky. In 1794 he settled in Kentucky, and was installed pastor of Paint Creek and Silver Creek churches. He died Aug. 5, 1795.
