addressed to the new pope, Eugenius IV, a solemn protestation, but, instead of obtaining justice, he was even deprived of his titles and revenue. He then addressed the Council of Basle, which restored to him his position. In 1445, being appointed to the government of Perugia, he established order and security there. Nicholas V became his friend; and for his services to Alphonsco V, king of Aragon, he was made grand penitentiary.
