Bonifacio Ferrer [1]
brother of St. Vincent Ferrer, and prior of the Carthusian monastery of Portasceli, in Valencia. He translated the whole Scriptures into the Valencian or Catalonian dialect. This translation, which was printed at Valencia in 1478, although it was the work of a Roman Catholic author, and had undergone the examination and correction of the inquisitor James Borrell, had scarcely made its appearance when it was suppressed by the Inquisition, and consigned to the flames.
