Beracah (‘blessing’). 1 . One of Saul’s brethren who joined David at Ziklag ( 1 Chronicles 12:3 ). 2 . ‘The valley of blessing,’ where Jehoshaphat gave thanks for victory over the Ammonites, Moabites, and Edomites, who had marched from Engedi to Tekoa ( 1 Chronicles 12:2; 1 Chronicles 12:20 ). The name survives at the ruin Bereikût on the main road from Jerusalem to Hebron, west of Tekoa.
