Benedict Bourdillon

Benedict Bourdillon [1]

a missionary of the Church of England, was of French origin. Having been ordained in England, he came to America, and was made incumbent in 1735 of Somerset Parish, Somerset Co., Md. On July 24, 1739, he was presented to St. Paul's Parish (now within the limits of Baltimore). He built a chapel about ten miles distant from the parish church, which eventually developed into St. Thomas's Parish. He died Jan. 5, 1754.
