Ben-Oni', בֶּןאּאוֹנַי , Son Of My Sorrow, otherwise Of My Strength, i.e. of My Last Effort, Hiller, Onomast. p. 300; Sept. translates Υἱὸς Ὀδύνης ) , the name given by Rachel in her expiring breath to her youngest son, in token of the death-pangs that gave him birth ( Genesis 35:18); afterward changed by his father to BENJAMIN (See Benjamin) (q.v.).
