Belleli Fulgencio (Or Francesco) [1]

Belleli Fulgencio (Or Francesco)

a pious and learned Italian theologian of the Order of the Augustins, of whom he became general, was born in 1675 at Buccino, in the diocese of Couza (kingdom of Naples), and died at Rome in 1742. In his work De Inventione coaporis Augustini (Venice, 1728), he maintained, contrary to the opinion of Muratori, that the body of St. Augustine existed at Pavia and was transported in the 8th century. He published two other works on Augustine, De Statu Creaturce ante Peccatum (Antw. 1711) and De Reparatione Natures post Lapsum (Rome, 1737, 2 vols.), the former of which was condemned by the Inquisition.
