Batlan [1]

( בִּטְלָן , Chald. Leisurely ) , a word formerly used among the Jews to denote a free person of full age, who had leisure to attend the service of the synagogue. It was a rule that a synagogue was to be erected in every place where there were ten Batlanin, but with a less number a synagogue could not be built, as ten were required to make a congregation.
