Babas

( Βάβας or Βάβα , since the latter only appears as a genitive), a person mentioned by Josephus as the last descendant of the Asmonaeans, but simply to relate that his sons were preserved by Costabarus from the general massacre of the adherents of Antigonus ordered by Herod the Great on obtaining possession of Jerusalem, until their concealment was disclosed by Salome to the tyrant, who immediately made sure of their death (Ant. 1 5, 7, 10).
