Az'rikam. (Help Against The Enemy).

1. A descendant of Zerubbabel, and son of Neariah of the royal line of Judah.  1 Chronicles 3:23.

2. Eldest son of Azel, and descendant of Saul.  1 Chronicles 8:38;  1 Chronicles 9:44. (B.C after 1037).

3. A Levite, ancestor of Shemaiah, who lived in the time of Nehemiah.  1 Chronicles 9:14;  Nehemiah 11:15. (B.C. before 536).

4. Governor of the house, or prefect of the palace, to King Ahaz, who was slain by Zichri, an Ephraimite hero, in the successful invasion of the southern kingdom by Pekah king of Israel.  2 Chronicles 28:7. (B.C. 738).

(Hebrews Azrikam', עִזְרַיקָם , Help against the Enemy; Sept. Ε᾿Ζρικάμ or Ε᾿Ζρίκαμ ;, once [ 2 Chronicles 28:7] Ε᾿Ζρίκάν ), the name of four men.

1. The first of the six sons of Azel, of the tribe of Benjamin ( 1 Chronicles 8:38;  1 Chronicles 9:44). B.C. post 1037.

2. (Josephus, Ε᾿Ρικάν , Ant. 9, 12, 1.) The governor of the king's house in the time of Ahaz, slain by Zichri an Ephraimite ( 2 Chronicles 28:7). B.C. cir. 738.

3. A Levite, son of Hashabiah and father of Hasshub ( 1 Chronicles 9:14;  Nehemiah 11:15). B.C. ante 536.

4. The last named of the three sons of Neariah, a descendant of Zerubbabel (1 Chronicles in,.23). B.C. cir. 404. He is perhaps the same as AZOR (q.v.), the son of Eliakim and father of Sadoc in  Matthew 1:13-14 (see Strong'S Harmn. And Epeos. Of Gospels, p. 16, 17).

(1) A descendant of King David through Zerubbabel ( 1 Chronicles 3:23 ).

(2) A prince of Judah in the time of Ahaz. He was slain by Zichri, an Ephraimite soldier ( 2 Chronicles 28:7 ).

(3) One of Azel's sons, a Benjamite, descended from King Saul ( 1 Chronicles 8:38;  1 Chronicles 9:44 ).

(4) A L evite of the house of Merari and a resident of Jerusalem ( 1 Chronicles 9:14;  Nehemiah 11:15 ).
